Spring Breakers Madhouse at the Paramount Theater During SXSW

The scene was set in front of the Paramount Theater for the stars to arrive for the walk on the red carpet. Fans were lined up front to take photos and/or catch a glimpse of their favorite stars. The SXSW Film Festival attendees were in lines stretching for blocks around, waiting for an opportunity to enter the screening. Unfortunately, not everyone was able to attend – even if they did have a SXSW Film Festival badge- as the theater was filled to capacity. [Photo credit: Liz Lopez, Liz’s Lenzwork]

I did not work the red carpet for this screening, so the scores of fans who arrived early had a better and closer look at James Franco than I did. [At least this time, as I had seen James Franco on the red carpet last October at another film event in Austin.]

As you can tell from all the taller fans and those who had a higher spot on the sidewalk in front of the Paramount, phone cameras abounded as each star took her spot on the red carpet during the evening. [Photo credit: Liz Lopez, Liz’s Lenzwork]

Spring Breakers starring Ashley Benson, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Rachel Korine and James Franco, will have a theatrical release here in Austin this coming Friday, March 22nd.

SHORT TERM 12 Announced as SXSW Film Festival Audience Award Winner Narrative Feature Competition

The SXSW Film Conference and Festival announced Audience Award-winners from the Narrative Feature Competition, Documentary Feature Competition, Narrative Spotlight, Documentary Spotlight, Emerging Visions, Midnighters, 24 Beats Per Second, SXGlobal, Festival Favorites and Design Award categories. SHORT TERM 12 by Destin Daniel Cretton was recognized as the Audience Award winner in the Narrative Feature Competition.

The Audience Awards follow the previously announced 2013 Jury Awards, which also included Grand Jury Winners SHORT TERM 12 for Narrative Feature, and Ben Nabors’ WILLIAM AND THE WINDMILL for Documentary Feature.
