The Iceman in Austin Theaters Today!

I absolutely loved this film, not so much because of the amazing story behind this contract killer/family man, but because Michael Shannon is just plain amazing as he portrays Richard Kuklinski. No doubt about it, I believe Shannon should be nominated for an award.

This film is totally worth the full price of admission just to see this talented actor’s portrayal. I have never seen a character make Ray Liotta’s character in crime movies look so weak by a certain point in the film. Liotta portrays Roy Demeo who originally hires Kuklinski, but deep down, Demeo really knows what this man is capable of, if not more, as the years of their “partnership” went on.

One thing is for sure, Kuklinski knew how to keep his wife Deborah (Winona Ryder) and his two daughters in the dark about what his real profession is. When he does have a melt down, Shannon’s portrayal displays a terror they really are not prepared for. I think I was trembling in the theater seat worried for them after viewing Shannon as Kuklinski. Ryder also turns in a very good performance as the loving wife who gets the shock of her life one morning.

If you or someone you know is a film fan of crime dramas and thrillers, this is the one to choose this weekend on the big screen. The film is rated R for strong violence, pervasive language and some sexual content.
