Upstream Color won the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival this year and writer/director Shane Carruth’s film screened several times during the 2013 SXSW Film Festival last month. I was able to view it at the Topher Theater when the house was packed with film fans.

Upstream Color now has a theatrical release at the Violet Crown Cinema and Alamo Drafthouse Slaughter Lane in Austin. It is a spellbinding film and one that keeps audiences talking long after the film ends.
Amy Seimetz gives an amazing performance as Kris, a woman who undergoes a dramatic change after she is abducted. Without telling too much of the film details, I found some of the scenes difficult to watch in this NR feature film. Seimetz was featured in Variety’s ‘Actors to Watch’ for leading roles in both Upstream Color and Pit Stop.
If you are a film fan who enjoys a well written story and performances by actors of scenes that stay with you, make you think, well then this one is for you! Check the local film listings to see if it is in a theater near you.
