After a successful premiere in 2012, the three-day music showcase spotlighting the best in Texas Conjunto music is back for its second year. The Festival will again take place at the Austin Moose Lodge #1735 in East Austin the first weekend in February, Friday February 1st through Sunday, February 3rd.

Over two dozen acts will take the stage – a mix of legendary performers, red-hot stars on the rise, and several groups not yet out of high school. Talent will be coming from Dallas, Houston, Corpus, Laredo, Alice, San Antonio, Austin, and all points in between. A complete listing is available online at ranchoalegretexas.com.

With a packed dancefloor and standing room only for all three days, last year’s event achieved its goal of proving that Conjunto enjoys a huge fan base in Austin. “We saw last year that there is a great demand for this music here in the Live Music Capital of the World,” says Rancho Alegre Radio owner Baldomero “Frank” Cuellar. “We awakened a sleeping giant. Everyone kept asking when the next show was going to be. It is my pleasure to share and preserve this beautiful, soulful music, which has played such an important role not only in my life, but in the lives of so many other Texans.”

In addition to the performances, the festival features a couple extras, including a Conjunto photo exhibit by Rolando Medina of San Antonio and special honors for Conjunto pioneer Agapito Zuñiga and Austin radio legend Roy Montelongo.

This year’s festival will honor Emancipet by highlighting its contribution to the Austin community. Emancipet is an Austin-based nonprofit organization providing affordable, accessible spay/neuter services and preventive wellness care to pets across seven counties in Central Texas. Information about Emancipet’s services will be available at the festival.

Music begins at 8 p.m. on Friday February 1, 2 p.m. on Saturday February 2, and 1 p.m. on Sunday February 3. Tickets are $12 per day pre-sale, $15 per day at the door and $30 for a 3-day pass. Pre-sale tickets and passes are available online at ranchoalegretexas.com, with more outlets to be announced on the website. Sponsorships are available, including opportunities for non-profit organizations and individuals.
