The Austin Film Festival was kicked off with a red carpet screening of Not Fade Away, the period-based music movie from “The Sopranos” creator David Chase.
Not Fade Away is the hit song by Buddy Holly from 1957, later covered in 1964 by The Rolling Stones. As Chase stood on the stage of the historic theater in Austin prior to the film’s start, he stated he was made aware by others present that October 18th is Buddy Holly’s birthday. He was quite visibly moved and said it was just something he did not have words for.
David Chase’s Not Fade Away recently made its World Premiere at the 50th New York Film Festival and Austin Film Festival fans were excited to talk to the director after the screening during the Q&A to discuss and share their joy for the film.
The film is to be released by Paramount Vantage, with the film’s roll-out scheduled to begin on December 21, 2012.
