July 15th Event at Graham Central Station in Pflugerville Will Feature Legendary Performers
Austin, Texas – Some of the biggest names in Tejano music will descend on Pflugerville’s Graham Central Station on Sunday, July 15th, to benefit one of Austin’s great Tejano music legends, Alfonso Ramos. Funds raised from the benefit will help cover the significant medical expenses the saxophonist and bandleader has incurred due to prolonged illness.
A gifted vocalist and saxophonist, the handsome, silver-haired Alfonso is known as “El Mero Leon de la Sierra” and, along with his brothers Ruben, Elijio, Joe and Roy, hit the Austin music scene as the Alfonso Ramos Orchestra in the late 1950s. The big band was one of the great “orquestas” to come out of Austin’s old east side, featuring a big brass section and playing cha chas, cumbias, boleros and rancheras. Alfonso’s contributions to Tejano music have been recognized by various organizations, including the Austin Latino Music Association, and he was inducted into the Tejano Music Awards Hall of Fame in 1998 and into the Tejano R.O.O.T.S. Hall of Fame in 2002.
The schedule of performers is a who’s who of Grammy-winning Tejano superstars, featuring opening and closing performances by Alfonso’s brother, Ruben Ramos with his band, The Mexican Revolution. Other performers joining the event are:
- Little Joe y La Familia
- Oscar De La Rosa of La Mafia

- Cacy Savala
- Jimmy Edward
- Sunny Ozuna
- Los Texmaniacs
